Charles Bronson: Notorious Prisoner Loses Bid for Freedom

"UK's Longest-Serving Prisoner Deemed Unfit for Release"

Parole Board Rules Against Charles Bronson

London, UK - Charles Bronson, also known as Michael Gordon Peterson, has lost his latest bid for release from prison. The Parole Board ruled that Bronson, one of the UK's longest-serving prisoners, would not be able to cope with being freed. The decision was made at a hearing held in March 2023, at which Bronson appeared via video link from HMP Woodhill, a Category A prison in Milton Keynes.

Bronson, 70, has spent more than 40 years behind bars for various offenses, including robbery, assault, and hostage-taking. He has also been involved in several violent incidents while in prison, including a punch-up with another inmate in 2020. The Parole Board said that it had taken into account Bronson's "long history of violent offending" and his "unpredictable and impulsive behavior" in reaching its decision.

Bronson was first jailed in 1974 for armed robbery. He has since been convicted of a number of other offenses, including assault, kidnapping, and attempted murder. In 1999, he was sentenced to life imprisonment for taking a prison officer hostage at HMP Hull. He has been unsuccessful in previous attempts to secure his release.
